Globalization and the Postmodern Condition (PSI 317)

Course Description:

Origins of modernity and different visions of Enlightenment will be the first introductory subject of the course. After defining debates about modernity and modernism, postindustrial society, globalization, post modernism and post modernity will be dealt by the way of theory and practices in daily life. Moreover contemporary postmodern developments in the society will be held in detail by touching on different examples.

Requirements of the Course:

Students of the course are expected to attend lectures and contribute to class discussions by reading necessary materials. There will be an annotation, midterm and final examination. Instead of taking the midterm exam, students may choose to write a term paper. Final grade will consist of the following:

            Participation and attendance: 10%

            Annotation: % 20

            Mid Term Exam: 30% (or term paper)

            Final Exam: 40%
